Any Good New About Real Estate?
The media seems to concentrate on spreading news about how poor the economy is doing and how more and more companies are either going out of business or downsizing the number of store locations. All this bad news does have a negative affect on how the average person spends his or her money and does affect the demand for real estate.
Why doesn't the media spread some good news around more often to cheer us up? There are many companies and industries that are doing very well in these recessionary times. Companies such as Cosco and Wal-Mart are doing very well; McDonald's is exceeding sales projections; Exxon-Mobil? In the health care industries, people still need medicines despite the recession and these companies are having rising sales. The market for pacemakers is also on the rise (this may be related to McDonald's success).
The core of the economy is still there and doing well. Many industries such as healthcare, food, clothing, retail, toys, alcohol, and the internet industry, in general, are fighting through the recession. OK, so big-ticket items may have slowed down, but sooner or later, they must pick up, too.
I think real estate has reached the bottom of the cycle and soon will rise again. How long and at what rate is everyone's guess. But real estate is a core industry and is not seasonal because people need to buy or sell at any time of the year.
